gallery 41 – contemporary Australian Art

My ceramic work has evolved from years of discovering special places and times in my immediate natural environment in Pittwater, Sydney.  My lasting impressions from these places become a sensory collection of colours, tones, sounds and aromas that change with each season and which have become integral to my work.

I am an instinctive visual editor and to reflect my own sensitivity to the surrounding natural environment l capture daily life images on to my clay canvas.  I refer to nature’s shapes, design and colour to create the clay’s surface design by using a combination of oxides, stains, glazes which are brushed, sgraffitoed, slip trailed and drawn into and onto the clay.
